Close a Card

Permanently close a card you no longer need, and what to check before you do.

Close a card when you no longer need it. Closure is permanent.

  • Permanent: the same card can’t be reopened

  • Balance: the card has no separate balance — closing it doesn’t withdraw money from its linked account

  • History: the card stays in your transaction history

Before Closing

  • Remove or replace the card on advertising platforms and other services that may bill it.

  • Review pending transactions.

  • Check whether you’re expecting a refund.

A pending transaction prevents closure? Freeze the card while you wait. See Freeze or Unfreeze a Card.

Close the Card

  1. Open the card.

  2. Open the status or actions menu.

  3. Select Close card.

  4. Review the confirmation and confirm.

The card stays in your transaction history. Closing a card doesn’t withdraw money from its linked account, because the card has no separate balance.

Closing an account deactivates every card funded by it. See Close an Account.

Expected Refunds

A closed card may still receive a refund for an earlier payment. See Ads Card Refunds and Reversals.

If you need another card, follow Issue One or More Cards.
