Freeze or Unfreeze a Card

Temporarily stop new payment attempts on a card, and restore it when you’re ready.

Freeze a card to stop new payment attempts temporarily. Unfreeze it when you’re ready to use it again.

  • Freeze: stops new payment attempts — temporary

  • Already authorized payments: not cancelled by freezing

  • To stop using a card permanently: see Close a Card

Freeze a Card

  1. Open the card.

  2. Open the status or actions menu.

  3. Select Freeze card.

  4. Confirm if prompted.

Review the change in the card’s status.

Unfreeze a Card

  1. Open the frozen card.

  2. Choose the unfreeze action.

  3. Review any message shown and confirm.

Before restoring use, address the reason the card was frozen.

A Card Froze Automatically

For Ads Cards, follow An Ads Card Payment Was Declined. That article explains repeated declines and the checks to make before unfreezing.

Pending Payments and Refunds

Freezing doesn’t cancel a payment that was already authorized. Updates to earlier payments and refunds may still arrive.
